Man's Best Friend: Labrador

Every prep family has a pet dog. Obedient, loyal, fun-loving and with a penchance for the outdoor sporting life, dogs are the perfect companion.

Thus I have set out to provide a brief note on the various breeds that make for the best pets. I am starting with the Labrador Retriever. The Lab makes an obvious choice for the discerning prep. Bred as a gun dog, the lab is a placid animal that is good with children or for assistance purposes whilst at the same time maintaining it's detection and working instincts. For leisurely country pursuits the Lab is very pleasant company.

The Lab is the most popular registered breed in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada (where the breed takes it's name from the Canadian province of Newfoundland & Labrador). Black coated Labs tend to be highly desired.
